Carburetor Repair and the 125–250 Update

The base fuel chapter distinguishes Walbro and Keihin configurations. Carburetor repair reaches into float and metering-rod inspection, pick-up pump components, vacuum-valve and diaphragm checks, and reassembly. Idle-mixture adjustment uses exhaust-gas analysis rather than engine sound alone.

The manual warns that disturbing pressed-in carburetor passages or caulked throttle-shaft screws can damage the carburetor body or shaft.

The 125–250 update identifies M 245 M for the 125 and M 237 M for the 250. It adds lubricant specifications, a maintenance schedule, carburetor calibration tables, and a revised transmission-oil level procedure; it is not a stand-alone 250 workshop manual.

500 Sprint Injection Hardware and Engine Access

For the M 273 M engine, coverage changes to throttle-body and injector hardware. The procedures identify fuel delivery and return connections, the stepper motor, throttle-position sensor, and intake-air sensor, then cover injector removal and separation of the throttle body from the intake manifold.

Its dedicated wiring diagram identifies the fuel pump, injector, injection relays, bank-angle sensor, RPM sensor, ECU, and diagnosis socket. This update does not provide a full EFI fault-diagnosis chapter. Shared operations cross-reference the base manual.

Engine Removal and Internal Repair Limits

The engine-in-frame reference lists the automatic converter/variator, clutch assembly, and drive belt among components removable without taking out the engine. Detailed internal engine overhaul and lubrication-system repair are referred to separate engine workshop manuals.

Front-wheel inspection includes bearing condition, seal wear, spindle runout, and radial/axial rim runout. Fork coverage extends through stanchion-and-slider disassembly, draining, filling, seal replacement, component inspection, and refitting.

Bearing-installation precautions address outer-race loading and the inner spacer relationship; fork instructions address damage to the slider’s internal seating surface.

The Brakes Diagram explains how the rear lever operates the rear caliper and part of the front caliper through the proportioning/delay valve. Operating a brake lever with the wheel or pads removed can eject caliper pistons and release brake fluid.

Examples of Component Test Values and Runout Limits

For the base 125/200 carburetor, the automatic-starter check specifies approximately 30 ohms at room temperature. The ignition pick-up specification is 105 ohms ±10% at 20°C.

Front-wheel inspection specifies a spindle runout limit of 0.25 mm and a radial/axial rim runout limit of 2 mm.
