Allis Chalmers Manual Features & Content Preview
Built as a compact shop-level reference, this manual is best suited to experienced mechanics and owners who are comfortable with tractor splitting, press work, precision measurement, and hydraulic test equipment. Internal injection-pump calibration is not presented as a general DIY repair; the manual directs that work to shops with the necessary equipment and training.
- 67-page PDF of the 1988 Intertec Publishing shop manual for Allis-Chalmers 6060, 6070, and 6080 tractors, covering the standard two-wheel-drive front axle and front-wheel-drive axle and transfer-gearbox equipment. This is an aftermarket shop manual, not an Allis-Chalmers OEM factory publication.
- Engine repair coverage includes removal, cylinder-head and valve work, wet cylinder sleeves, pistons and rods, crankshaft and bearings, timing gears, balancer timing, lubrication components, cooling-system service, and water-pump overhaul.

Model and Serial-Break Coverage
The 6060 uses an eight-forward-speed transmission with a two-range planetary unit, while the 6070 and 6080 use 12-forward-speed transmissions with dual planetary range units. The manual also separates the single-speed 540-rpm PTO used on the 6060 and 6070 from the 6080's dual-speed 540/1000-rpm assembly. Engine data identifies the 433T for the 6060 and 6070 and the 433I for the 6080; all three use the TA3101 turbocharger, while intercooler service applies only to the 6080.
Separate procedures and parts views address early and late steering control valves at 6060 S/N 2446, 6070 S/N 1001, and 6080 S/N 2978; clutch-pedal systems at 6060 S/N 3001, 6070 S/N 1001, and 6080 S/N 4001; and steering/hydraulic pump and filter arrangements at 6060 S/N 4383, 6070 S/N 1001, and 6080 S/N 5284. The hitch control-valve relief arrangement changes at 6060 S/N 4540 and 6080 S/N 5680, and the FWD final-drive section identifies the late 6080 design effective at S/N 6235.
Front-wheel-drive tractors may carry Weber, Erber, or Sima steering cylinders, and the manual identifies each design separately. The Sima cylinder is only partly serviceable; internal leakage past its piston seal calls for replacement of the complete cylinder. Three different external lift-assist cylinders used on the 6080 receive separate service sections as well.
Cab and ROPS removal instructions specify lifting points and distinguish the early rear-isolator assemblies used on 6060 tractors before S/N 3744 and 6080 tractors before S/N 4346.
Shop Procedures, Tools, and Technical Data
Hydraulic diagnosis covers pump output, system and steering relief settings, remote-valve unlatching pressure, hitch safety and discharge valves, lift leak-down, position-control and Traction Booster cables, sensitivity, maximum lift height, start-of-lift, and solid versus telescoping sensing links. Tool references include the ACTP-1008 flowmeter, ACTP-10014 nozzle tester, ACTP-2065B injector-sleeve tool set, ACTP-3082 and ACTP-3103 clutch pilot/adjusting tools, ACTP-3014-1 and ACTP-3014-3 splitting stands, and the ACTP-3115 pinion-positioning gauge set.
The service-data tables supply U.S. customary and metric torque specifications, capacities, adjustment dimensions, bearing and gear clearances, wear limits, hydraulic test data, and electrical test values. Model- and configuration-specific data covers FWD lubricant allowances, transmission and rear-housing capacities, clutch machining limits, differential setup, engine fits, and component inspection limits.
Figures and Repair Cautions
The PDF is illustrated through Fig. 151 with exploded assemblies, sectional views, test hookups, and adjustment drawings. Representative examples include the FWD final-drive exploded view (Fig. 6), engine timing-gear layout (Fig. 38), TA3101 turbocharger exploded view (Fig. 70), model-specific transmission cross-sections (Figs. 92, 93, and 101), ACTP-3115 pinion-depth setup (Fig. 110), and early/late hitch control-valve exploded view (Fig. 138).
The manual warns against retorquing the cylinder head while the engine is hot because the head gasket can be damaged. It also cautions against resting the turbocharger on its compressor or turbine blades; a bent blade requires replacement. Before beginning repair work, support the tractor and removed assemblies with correctly rated equipment, lower raised implements, relieve hydraulic pressure, and isolate the electrical system.
