Engine Access and Hondamatic Repair Limits

Body-panel and exhaust removal procedures establish access for engine and chassis work. Exploded assembly drawings show component arrangement.

Cylinder-head and piston service can be performed with the engine in the frame. Sub-transmission, crankshaft, and automatic-transmission unit service require engine removal.

The cylinder-head section warns that incorrect head-cover installation, with the rocker arms misaligned with the pushrod ends, can cause severe engine damage.

Hondamatic unit: Coverage includes crankcase separation, unit removal, and swash-plate and ball-nut movement checks. The automatic unit is replaced as an assembly; internal overhaul of that unit is outside the repair scope.

Mechanical troubleshooting charts help distinguish lubrication, centrifugal-clutch, and sub-transmission faults when assessing poor drive performance.

Float-Level and Cooling-Pressure Specification Preview

Carburetor float: The specified level is 15.9 mm (0.63 in), with the float just touching the seated float valve. The float is nonadjustable; the manual specifies assembly replacement when the level is outside specification.

Radiator cap: The cooling-system test section lists a relief-pressure range of 108–137 kPa (16–20 psi), together with pressure-retention checks and cooling-system leak testing.
