Engine and Ignition Variants

The engine material separates the fixed-timing ignition used with the CV20S/CV23S configuration from the CV25S Smart Spark system. The 25 hp section adds a Spark Advance Module (SAM) test, while the electrical chapter provides its dedicated W7/W8 harness information and CV25S armature tests. The carburetor is identified as non-adjustable with no serviceable internal components, so carburetor coverage is limited to external diagnosis plus removal and installation rather than an internal rebuild.

Assembly Cautions and Safe Service

The internal engine instructions stress correct piston-and-connecting-rod orientation because an incorrect assembly can cause extensive wear or damage. In the mower spindle section, clamping the shaft's hex end in a vise can damage the shaft and lead to improper blade operation; the deck section also documents seal-ring orientation and lower-bearing installation depth.

Before service, lower attached equipment, stop the engine, remove the key, disconnect the battery ground strap, and securely support any raised tractor or deck. Keep the PTO and rotating blades isolated before inspection or repair.
