Component and System Documentation
Front-chassis coverage is configuration-specific. The L175 and L225 use a fixed-tread axle; the L210 and L260 use the adjustable-tread design, with the L210 identified as basically similar to the L260. Procedures address axle pivots, spindles, hubs, drag links, tie rods, toe-in, and the recirculating ball-nut steering gear. The separate L225DT section follows the driven front end from the transmission-mounted transfer case through the drive shaft, differential, universal-joint axle shafts, spindle housings, king pins, hubs, and outer bevel drives. It includes complete axle removal, outer-drive repair, differential/bevel-gear service, and transfer-case overhaul.
Transmission chapters distinguish the four-speed sliding-gear/range units used on the L175, L225, L225DT, and L260 from the L210 three-speed/range unit. Several repair traps are called out directly. Missing transmission interlock balls can allow two gears to engage at once. Mixing differential or output-shaft shim packs changes bevel-gear mesh and, on the L260, carrier-bearing preload. Overtightening an injector nozzle nut can distort the holder and make the nozzle valve stick.
The missing material corresponds to engine pages 10–20 and hydraulic-system pages 48–53. Only the opening engine-removal/cylinder-head material on page 9 and a final hydraulic fragment on page 54 are present. This set is not a complete internal-engine-overhaul or hydraulic-repair manual.
Tractor splitting, axle and final-drive removal, high-pressure injector testing, hydraulics, electrical work, and exposed PTO components require proper blocking and lifting equipment, pressure release, electrical isolation, and standard shop safety practices.
