Sea-Doo Manual Features & Content Preview

  • Covers 2008–2009 Sea-Doo 1503 4-TEC workshop content for naturally aspirated and supercharged/intercooled models, with a separate 2010 4-TEC-iTC-FIXED wiring diagram.
  • Details engine removal and installation, cylinder-head and lower-end repair, camshaft timing, piston and connecting-rod inspection, and engine-to-jet-pump alignment.
  • Explains intake manifold servicing, supercharger clutch slipping-moment tests and rebuilding, intercooler leak testing, and exhaust cooling maintenance.
  • Provides B.U.D.S. diagnostics, fault-code tables, ECM replacement procedures, and Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS) key programming, alongside ignition, charging, and starting-system tests.
  • Breaks down jet pump and drive system repair, including impeller and bearing replacement, wear-ring inspection, carbon-ring sealing, reverse-cable adjustment, and Variable Trim System (VTS) troubleshooting.
  • Covers steering alignment, Off-Power Assisted Steering (O.P.A.S.) service, body-panel removal, wake-pylon servicing, and fiberglass/gelcoat repair.

Written primarily for watercraft mechanical technicians already familiar with BRP service procedures, these publications assume access to the specified hand tools, special service tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Model Coverage and Included Publications

The engine sections distinguish 130 and 155 HP naturally aspirated engines from 215 and 255 HP supercharged/intercooled engines. The 215 uses an intercooler inside the intake manifold; the 255 has a separate external intercooler with its own service section.

The 2009 supplement identifies these configurations:

Engine configuration Listed 2009 models
130 HP GTI, GTI Rental, GTI SE
155 HP GTI SE, WAKE, GTX
215 HP GTX, WAKE PRO, RXP, RXT
255 HP RXP-X, RXP-X RS, RXT-X, RXT-X RS

The 2008 base specifications also distinguish configurations such as RXP 155, WAKE 215, and GTX Limited 215. For 2009, WAKE follows the base manual’s GTI sections except for ballast and wake-pylon content; WAKE PRO follows its WAKE sections.

This 787-page PDF compilation contains:

Document block Document reference Included PDF pages
2008 4-TEC base-manual material P/N 219 100 313 552
2009 Shop Manual Supplement Cover identifier 219 100 369 70
2009 PWC and Sport Boats Technical Update Book material P/N 219 600 035 162
2010 4-TEC-iTC-FIXED wiring sheet Diagram dated February 8, 2010 1
Compilation cover sheets 2

The base block includes the four-page storage bulletin 2006-15. The supplement block includes storage bulletins 2007-13 and 2008-10, totaling six pages. Counts include covers, blank or repeated pages, and inserted material. The Technical Update Book portion extends through printed page 157.

The supplement is used with the base manual for systems it does not revise. The 2010-specific content is the wiring sheet, rather than a complete 2010 workshop manual. The technical update material discusses iTC, iBR, and iS technology, but the set does not provide full iS workshop coverage.

Engine, Cooling, and Model-Year Changes

Beyond internal engine work, the manual covers the PTO housing and magneto, oil pressure and suction pumps, pressure regulator, oil cooler, and TOPS components. Cooling procedures address the closed-loop engine circuit and ride-plate heat exchanger separately from the open-loop exhaust circuit.

The 2009 material documents the revised aluminum jet pump, impeller/shaft compatibility, rubber-coated drive shaft, and threaded sealing-ring arrangement. Its diagnostic notes address water entry and oil leakage at the PTO seal. The Technical Update Book also clarifies conflicting earlier storage instructions for internal and external intercoolers.

Two repair cautions illustrate the detail provided: mixing the 255 HO piston oil-spray nozzles with other versions can cause severe engine damage, while incorrectly supported supercharger bearing installation can shorten bearing life.

Electrical Diagnosis and Workshop References

Fuel-system coverage includes injector testing, pump-pressure and leak tests, and separate checks for early-2008 vent plumbing versus later vented fuel caps. Electronic procedures cover closed-throttle and idle-actuator resets, sensor-circuit testing, CAN communication, and premium information-center calibration.

Illustrated references include the fuel-system diagnostic flowchart, Engine Oil Flow, Closed Loop Cooling System, Water Flow in the Exhaust System, and the 2008 and 2010 wiring diagrams. Exploded assembly views identify components and show installation-specific service products and torque callouts.

Reference tables supply fluid capacities, pressure-test specifications, wear limits, clearances, and electrical test values. Tool listings identify equipment such as alignment shaft 295 000 141 and ECM adapter 420 277 010. Parts ordering is referred to the applicable model parts catalog.

Follow the manual’s fuel-pressure, electrical-isolation, and cooling precautions, particularly when testing an engine out of the water or working near the jet pump.
