Engine Interfaces and Coverage Limits

The engine chapter provides Perkins and Valmet specifications and explains the viscostatic fan. Repair procedures cover the flywheel, damper, starter ring gear and spacer assemblies.

Internal engine overhaul: Detailed engine adjustments, disassembly and assembly are referred to separate Perkins and Valmet workshop publications. Those engine manuals are not included in this PDF.

Cab and accessories: Cab wiring and electrical equipment are covered within the electrical sections. The separate Cab and Equipment and Accessories chapters listed in the master contents are represented by “Chapter Under Construction” placeholder pages rather than repair instructions.

Splitting, Clutches and Transmission Assemblies

For shops planning drivetrain repairs, the splitting sections identify separation points, connections and tooling before major assemblies are removed. Chassis-reinforcement installation and adjustment are also documented.

The Full Powershift material goes beyond operating descriptions to cover speed-clutch trains, range-clutch shafts, housing inspection and the transmission hydraulic circuit. Power-transmission routes, exploded assembly views and section drawings support the repair procedures.

The gearbox repair section warns that hardened pinion teeth can shatter when extraction loads are applied incorrectly. Tractor splitting requires the support methods and correctly rated lifting equipment specified in the manual.

Axle Setup, Brakes and PTO

Rear-axle coverage distinguishes standard, sealed-compartment, composite and double-reduction arrangements. Bearing shimming, differential backlash and drive-pinion positioning are treated by assembly type, with component-specific tightening data.

Front-axle sections distinguish Dana, ZF and Carraro assemblies instead of applying one overhaul procedure to every tractor. PTO coverage includes removable and shiftable shafts, bearing blocks, shaft seals, and clutch-and-brake assemblies.

Load-Sensing Hydraulics and Circuit Testing

Separate hydraulic sections describe the standard and optional higher-flow systems. Priority blocks with and without trailer braking, Bosch and electro-hydraulic auxiliary spool valves, lift control and Orbitrol steering receive their own descriptions and service information.

Pressure and flow tests identify the relevant diagnostic connections and operating conditions. Equipment references include the MF 3001 pressure-gauge kit and MF 3016 turbine flowmeter, allowing the required test equipment to be identified before diagnosis begins.

Harness Variants, Calibration and Wintest

Rists and Deutsch electrical sections provide harness and connector information, with separate European and North American lighting layouts. Autotronic function flowcharts, electrical diagrams and DCC/TC sensor-location references connect control-system descriptions with fault tracing.

Autotronic 3 material covers Speed Matching, optional Autodrive, power-shuttle calibration and error codes. DCC/TC sections add calibration modes and fault-code analysis; Datatronic 2 sections address Dual Control and TIC for semi-mounted implements.

The Wintest chapters describe programming, parameter setting and system tests using the period PC-based diagnostic setup. They require Wintest software, a CAN BOX interface and the appropriate harnesses; this download supplies the documentation.

The cold rocker-arm clearance specifications for these models are 0.20 mm at the inlet valves and 0.45 mm at the exhaust valves.
