The EC supplement documents model-specific CVT, carburetor, road-use electrical equipment, technical-data, and wiring changes. These include a six-lever drive-pulley arrangement instead of four, an O-0 needle jet (Bombardier P/N 404 162 055; Mikuni P/N 785-401003-O-0), and models on which 2WD is inactive because the disconnect-unit actuator connector remains unplugged.

Engine, CVT, and Drivetrain Repair

Whether you are rebuilding the top end, diagnosing a no-start condition, or setting up the front differential, the manual’s 12-section layout provides model-specific factory procedures. The 330 uses a 325 cc Bombardier-Rotax single-cylinder, four-valve OHC engine with an 82 mm bore and no decompressor. The 400 and MAX use the 400 cc version with a 91 mm bore and an automatic decompressor. Both have a 61.5 mm stroke and 10.3:1 compression ratio.

Engine coverage includes cylinder leak-down diagnosis, engine removal and installation, cooling-system pressure testing, water-pump repair, magneto and lubrication repair, valve adjustment, camshaft timing, cylinder-head and piston service, crankshaft/balancer alignment, and gearbox overhaul. The leak-down chart classifies readings from 0–7% through 31% and higher, while specification tables cover internal-engine wear limits. Head, cylinder, and piston repair can be performed without removing the engine.

The CVT section covers belt replacement, drive- and driven-pulley service, one-way clutch inspection, wear limits, and troubleshooting for acceleration, excessive RPM, glazing, noise, vibration, and poor shifting. Drive-belt width is 32.00 mm new with a 30.00 mm service limit. Drivetrain repair extends to wheel hubs, CV joints and boots, propeller-shaft U-joints, the front auto-lock differential, rear differential, and 4x4 disconnect unit. Front-differential setup specifies 0.025–0.152 mm backlash, measured at five positions, with preload and shim charts.

Fuel, Electrical, Steering, Suspension, and Brakes

Fuel coverage includes pressure testing, tank and strainer service, fuel valve and vacuum-operated Mikuni pump repair, BSR33 carburetor disassembly and calibration, float-level checks, control cables, and the air-intake silencer. Electrical diagnosis covers the 18-pole three-phase stator, regulator/rectifier, battery load testing, starter and solenoid circuits, CDI ignition, CPS tests, ignition-coil resistance, Packard and Deutsch connectors, fuses, lamps, switches, and accessory outlets.

Chassis procedures include steering-column and wheel-bearing repair, tie-rod and toe adjustment, McPherson-strut front suspension, ball joints, rear shocks, torsion bar, trailing arms, and bearings. The hydraulic-brake chapter covers two brake circuits, the parking-brake lock, DOT 4 fluid replacement and simultaneous front/rear bleeding, master-cylinder and caliper repair, pad and disc limits, hoses, pedal, and brake-light switch.

Shop visuals include the cooling-system and magneto exploded views, lubrication-system layout, front-differential backlash and shim charts, hydraulic-brake system layout, and model-specific wiring diagrams with connector coding.

Specifications, Tools, and Shop-Critical Notes

Precision matters in the shop. Tables provide model-specific and standard metric torques, maintenance intervals, electrical values, wear limits, and capacities. Key capacities are 3.0 L engine/transmission oil, 2.5 L coolant, 500 mL front differential oil on 4x4 models, 300 mL rear differential oil, and 250 mL brake fluid. The viscosity chart recommends SAE 5W-30 for all seasons; technical data also lists Bombardier synthetic 5W-40. Valve clearance is 0.06–0.14 mm intake and 0.11–0.19 mm exhaust.

The schedule begins at 10 hours/30 days/300 km and runs through 200 hours/6000 km/two years. Cooling data identifies a 65°C thermostat opening point, 95°C fan switch-on point, 115°C coolant-temperature switch operating point, and 110 kPa radiator-cap pressure. Tire ranges differ by chassis: 330/400 models list 24–28 kPa front and 28–31 kPa rear; MAX models list 31–34 kPa front and rear up to a 235 kg load.

Referenced service tools include camshaft locking tool 529 035 926, crankshaft locking bolt 529 035 617, drive-pulley puller 529 035 746, driven-pulley expander 529 035 747, differential backlash tool 529 035 665, and water-pump ceramic-seal installer 529 035 766.

The camshaft must be locked before its retaining screw is removed; otherwise the timing chain can be stretched. The ceramic water-pump rotary seal must be pressed into place—hammer installation can fracture the seal or damage its bore. The CVT uses metric puller threads and a precisely balanced clutch assembly; impact tools or used parts from another clutch can damage components or disturb balance.

Before major repair work, isolate the battery, support the ATV securely, work only on a cold cooling system, and follow the manual’s warnings for fuel, spring-loaded rewind-starter and CVT components, rotating parts, and hydraulic brakes.
