After lower-end assembly, the oil system must be primed before first startup; failing to do so can oil-starve the rebuilt engine. Drive-clutch cover, spider, and sheave positions must remain indexed because the assembly is precision-balanced; losing the original relationship can create vibration and unsafe clutch operation. On carbureted machines, selecting a main jet without the altitude/temperature chart can create a lean condition and serious engine damage.
