Clutch, Brakes, Steering, and PTO

Models 73, 106, and 126 have a conventional clutch and gear transmission; Models 107, 127, and 147 use hydrostatic drive.

The brake sections distinguish the Model 73 transmission-shaft disc brake from the rear-wheel disc brakes on the other models. Illustrated pedal zones help you select the correct adjustment reference before repair work. Front wheel adjustment drawings show toe-in and ball-joint relationships.

Hydrostatic creeping appears in the troubleshooting table, but the remedy refers to a separate Service Manual. Internal engine and transmission overhaul procedures are outside this manual's scope.

Rear PTO instructions apply to the gear-drive models, with a shaft spline-dimension drawing for attachment identification. Electric lift coverage includes fixed and float positions and bracket modifications for older blades and snow throwers.

Engine Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Carburetor views distinguish the Model 73 arrangement from the other tractors. Troubleshooting tables address hard starting, irregular running or knocking, loss of power, and overheating, including conditions referred for dealer repair.

Motor-generator belt-tension drawings accompany removal and replacement instructions, including the additional belt removal needed when a rotary mower is fitted. The text warns that using a pry bar on the motor-generator can damage its bearings.

Voltage-regulator notes identify accidental bridging of the BAT and F terminals as a cause of regulator damage. Reference data includes AGC lighting-fuse and lamp specifications. Electrical wiring diagrams are not included.

Lubrication Guides and Supplement

The quick-attachable 38-, 42-, and 48-inch decks have three spindles and are specified for tractors with serial number 65458 and higher. The 48-inch deck uses progressively faster spindle speeds from left to right.

Deck instructions distinguish main drive-belt adjustment from the self-tensioning spindle belt. Blade coverage includes balancing, replacement limits, mounting orientation, and spindle fastener requirements.

The safety instructions call for stopping the engine and disengaging attachment power before repair or adjustment work. Tractor support precautions accompany brake adjustments.
