The powerhead chapter covers cylinder-bore inspection and honing, piston-ring installation, crankshaft assembly, and connecting-rod cap alignment. It warns that residual honing abrasive can rapidly wear new piston rings and cylinder bores.

The 40/50 thermostat-cover and sealing-component listings distinguish serial numbers through 0G662182 from 0G662183 and above. That distinction helps match the cover and seals before parts are selected. Water Circulation illustrations accompany thermostat and temperature-switch testing.

WME Carburetors and Oil Injection

Fuel System Troubleshooting addresses flooding, lean running, rough idle, and surging. The WME Carburetor Chart separates manual- and electric-start applications; the High Altitude Jet Chart and Jet Orifice Size Chart support jet identification.

The inspection section warns that steel-wire cleaning can enlarge carburetor jet orifices and affect performance. Oil-injection coverage extends to pump-output testing, low-oil warning diagnosis, reservoir removal, and oil-pump drive-gear inspection.

CDM Ignition and Electrical Diagnosis

The CDM troubleshooting flowcharts distinguish no-spark faults from cases where at least one cylinder still fires. Power Trim and Manual Tilt Limits

Power Trim Flow Diagrams and Manual Trim Flow Diagrams accompany hydraulic troubleshooting, seal-placement drawings, and bleeding procedures.

The 40/50 manual tilt-assist unit is not internally serviceable. The 55/60 manual-tilt section contains internal repair procedures, but its pressurized accumulator is a replacement component. The power-trim motors and the 40/50 trim pump are also designated non-serviceable.

Follow the manual's precautions for flammable fuel, high-voltage ignition, and pressurized trim components.

A Preview of Gear Ratios and Ignition Settings

These figures are a small selection from the manual's gearcase and ignition specifications.

Gear ratios are 1.83:1 for standard 40/50 units, 1.64:1 for standard 55/60 units, and 2.3:1 for the 60 Bigfoot. The ignition tables list a 0.040 in. (1.0 mm) gap for NGK BP8H-N-10 spark plugs and idle timing of T.D.C. ± 2°.

Maximum timing at cranking speed is listed as 24° B.T.D.C. for standard 40/50/60 models, with 18° B.T.D.C. specified separately for 55/60 Seapro-Marathon configurations.
