Transmission and clutch repair, steering, air conditioning, and cab/chassis electrical work are referenced when an engine procedure interfaces with those systems, but their full repair sections are not included. The fuel-injection chapter covers diagnosis, removal, installation, bleeding, and timing; it does not provide an internal Bosch injection-pump overhaul.

Before major repair work, note two manual-specific traps: supporting the engine under the oil pan can damage the pan and oil pickup, while leaving turbocharger or charge-air openings uncovered can admit debris that damages the compressor or engine. During camshaft-bearing repair, the bearing oil holes and the different front-bearing orientation must align with the block passages or lubrication can be restricted.
