JCB 8080 Hydraulic Excavator Service & Repair Manual (P/N 9803/9330)

This JCB service manual (Publication No. 9803/9330, Issue 3) covers the 8080 Midi Excavator, from routine maintenance to electrical diagnosis and hydraulic component repair. Machine-identification guidance covers the data plate, engine number and EMS serial-number display.

ECU-MIDI and EMS Diagnostics

The AMS (Advanced Management System) section explains communication between the ECU-MIDI, EMS panel and facia switch panel. Diagnostic menu charts and error-code tables distinguish open circuits, short circuits and system faults.

ECU output-test notes explain voltage readings caused by internal pull-up resistors, helping avoid mistaking normal circuit behavior for a failed controller. Throttle calibration is covered after controller, sensor or linkage changes.

Direct glazing removal and replacement includes frame preparation, glass-spacing details and sealant cross-sections. The glazing notes explain how contact with the frame can chip and eventually break replacement glass.

Air-conditioning diagnosis relates gauge readings and sight-glass indications to specific faults. Refrigerant charging and discharging procedures are excluded and require appropriately trained personnel with specialist equipment.

Engine Coverage and Workshop Precautions

Engine coverage identifies the 4JG1 Tier II diesel and is limited to technical data and routine maintenance. For further engine work, the publication refers to the separate engine service manual, P/N 9806/2180, which is not included in this PDF.

Hydraulic Pressure and Sensor Specification Preview
