The lift pump, injectors, thermostat, coolant pump, oil pump, and most switches or solenoids are replaceable units; the starter, alternator, and turbocharger have defined limited-service procedures.

Two manual-specific repair traps are flagged. Removing the injection pump without mechanically locking both engine and pump can require a specialist timing reset, and the timing pin can appear engaged when it is not. Withdrawing the camshaft while the engine is upright can let the tappets and pushrods fall into the block and force additional teardown. Review the lifting, battery-isolation, hot-component, fuel-pressure, and rotating-machinery precautions before disassembly.
